Beethoven violin concerto

Northwest Sinfonietta opens its 29th concert season with a program celebrating the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. The program features Beethoven’s epic violin concerto paired with the first symphony of Beethoven’s student, trusted factotum and brilliant composer in his own right, Ferdinand Ries. Simone Porter is a rising young artist on the national and international stage, known for her impassioned energy and interpretive integrity.

Artistic Partner Yaniv Attar leads the Sinfonietta in this dramatic concert featuring pianist Jessica Choe performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor. The energetic Concerto for Strings written in 1948 by female Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz, and a full-orchestra arrangement of what is arguably Mendelssohn’s most famous work, the Octet, round out this program.

Celebrate the return of the light and the retreat of winter with this innovative program featuring Principal violist Heather Bentley’s evocative Hot Shop, Britten’s masterpiece Les Illuminations, sung by world-class soprano Cyndia Sieden, and Haydn’s ‘Morning’ symphony.

The Sinfonietta is also proud to feature the 2019-20 Youth Concerto Competition winner at this concert.
