Members of Northwest Sinfonietta and the Kareem Kandi World Orchestra team up for a spectacular Concert in the Cone on Thursday, November 21 at 6pm. Join us for a program of jazz, hip hop, Latin and Middle Eastern influenced original works by Kareem Kandi, arranged for this unique fusion ensemble. Performed in the hot shop with live grass blowing by Museum of Glass artists and students from Hilltop Artists, this is a multi-sensory experience not to be missed. FREE concert and FREE admission to the Museum of Glass.

Geek out about Goldberg Variations

If ever there was a piece to geek out about, it would be J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations. The structure alone, and the way Bach developed the work’s 32 movements (yes 32), will BLOW YOUR MIND. Join us on December 12 for this happy hour event at the beautiful Meeker Mansion in Puyallup. Composer Gregory Youtz and NWS Concertmaster Denise Dillenbeck will delve into the history and structure of the piece, give listening tips for our performances on December 21 & 22, and provide time for discussion and Q&A.

Northwest Sinfonietta and TYSA are teaming up this 2024-25 season for a mentorship program culminating in side-by-side performances of Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings on March 8 & 9, 2025.

Up to 13 spots will be awarded to TYSA student musicians: 7 violin, 2 viola, 2 cello, 2 bass

Auditions will be held Friday, Nov. 1 at 6pm.

Kaleidoscope Kick-Off Event for Tacoma Arts Month

Join us at Kaleidoscope, the Tacoma Arts Month kick-off event! Northwest Sinfonietta musicians will perform from 7-7:30pm — come be our groupies! We will perform chamber works by our favorite Jo’s, the dashing Joseph Bologne and Joseph Haydn, and some popular Bridgerton covers from that same time period. The Kaleidoscope event runs from 6:30-9pm, some come early and stay late to enjoy other music and dance performances, hands-on activities, visual art, and more. It is a free, family-friendly, community festival with refreshments.

Experience Tacoma Nature Center trails this fall with Music, Motion and Mindfulness trail walks, designed by Northwest Sinfonietta in collaboration with Tacoma Nature Center and Sarah Low, co-founder of Tacoma Tree Foundation. QR codes access Northwest Sinfonietta recordings of curated music selections and mindfulness activities that help create space to slow down, observe and be fully present in your surroundings. You will need a mobile device to stream the recording while walking, and use of headphones or earbuds is recommended. Music, Motion and Mindfulness trail walks are made possible with support from Tacoma Creates and the City of Tacoma.
