For TYSA string players, Northwest Sinfonietta’s ProLab mentorship program provides professional-style audition experience, three mentorship rehearsal and dinner discussion sessions with Northwest Sinfonietta Concertmaster Denise Dillenbeck, Artistic Partner Yaniv Attar and other NWS musicians, and side-by-side rehearsals and performances of Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 on our March 14 & 15, 2026 Sky & Stone programs. A holiday tradition for the whole family! Based on Raymond Briggs’ beloved picture book and the Oscar-nominated animated film, The Snowman tells the enchanting story of a young boy who builds a snowman that magically comes to life on Christmas Eve. Together, they embark on a wondrous adventure—soaring through the night sky, meeting Father Christmas, and discovering the true spirit of friendship and wonder.

Northwest Sinfonietta’s performance includes other seasonal favorites such as Vivaldi’s Winter Concerto from The Four Seasons and more.

FREE TICKET REGISTRATION - choose from our 10am and 11:15am concerts. Each concert runs approximately 50 min.

Concert in the Cone - Into Outer Space

Northwest Sinfonietta, Museum of Glass and Hilltop Artists partner to bring you this free community concert in the Hot Shop. Musicians from NWS will perform a concert of works inspired by outer space while students from Hilltop Artists simultaneously blow gloriously colored glass spheres.

This performance will run approximately 45 minutes. It is FREE to the public with funding support from Tacoma Creates. Museum admission is also free on this Third Thursday, so plan for time to take in the museum exhibits as well!

Trees and art root us in place and in the season. Our community partner Tacoma Tree Foundation is providing this mindfulness walk and visual poetry workshop inspired by NWS's March Sky and Stone performance. Join David Lasky and Sarah Low and get inspired by trees, fall's air, birds, fungi, minerals, soil, and rain. A portion of the program will take place outside, please plan according to the weather. Geek out about Goldberg Variations

If ever there was a piece to geek out about, it would be J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations. The structure alone, and the way Bach developed the work’s 32 movements (yes 32), will BLOW YOUR MIND. Join us on December 12 for this happy hour event at the beautiful Meeker Mansion in Puyallup. Musicologist Mark Samples and NWS Concertmaster Denise Dillenbeck will delve into the history and structure of the piece, give listening tips for our performances on December 21 & 22, and provide time for discussion and Q&A.

We will perform chamber works by our favorite Jo’s, the dashing Joseph Bologne and Joseph Haydn, and some popular Bridgerton covers from that same time period. The Kaleidoscope event runs from 6:30-9pm, some come early and stay late to enjoy other music and dance performances, hands-on activities, visual art, and more. It is a free, family-friendly, community festival with refreshments.

Experience Tacoma Nature Center trails this fall with Music, Motion and Mindfulness trail walks, designed by Northwest Sinfonietta in collaboration with Tacoma Nature Center and Sarah Low, co-founder of Tacoma Tree Foundation. QR codes access Northwest Sinfonietta recordings of curated music selections and mindfulness activities that help create space to slow down, observe and be fully present in your surroundings. You will need a mobile device to stream the recording while walking, and use of headphones or earbuds is recommended. Music, Motion and Mindfulness trail walks are made possible with support from Tacoma Creates and the City of Tacoma.
